John That is absolutely beautiful. Nice choice of woods. I'm building a similar guitar right now. I copied the profile from my Taylor 612 and used lacewood for the back and sides.

Very nice, John. I wanna play it.

I would second much of what's been said about this guitar. I also particlarly like the way you did the purfling around the end graft, and also the itty bitty truss rod cover. Nice body shape, too.

John, thanks for having mercy on us dial up guys.
But well worth the brief wait--that's a beauty!
Interesting comment about the sound "right out of the box". Sounds like you are agreeing with John Greven.
I was perusing an old LMI catalog where he was saying that Lacewood--brand new--sounded like an old played in Martin. These kinds of comments make one want to try some of that stuff....

It DOES have that vintage tone to it. I had read that from John a few years
back, but I just kinda thought that that is the kinda tone John is at a
disposition to lean to. I'm a believer now! Really is a great tonewood.
Pretty easy to work with as well.

Hi John, really beautiful guitar, I was wondering how hard is the lacewood to bend & work with "as far as heating & bending the sides, purfing and such" if you don`t mind me asking the tempretures i need to look out for when working with lacewood sides & purfing. thanks & I hope if eat enuff LMI glue i`ll be able to turn out a work of art such as your guitar. www.mattenascarart.homestead.com

I bent it like rosewood. Plugged in the blankets (yes plural..Two blankets
work much better than one, although you can get by with one..you get
more springback too) and when they reached 240 started the bend.
Finished the bends off, and kept it at 300-310 for 3-5 minutes.. then let
cool down for 45 minutes at least.

But the real secret is the glue. You have to eat lots of titebond, and sniff
lots of hide glue.. then you start to see the world through the right eyes,
and lutherie all makes sense!
